The Honeycomb's unique properties lie in its modular and multifunctional applications. The hexagonal frame, reminiscent of a honeycomb, allows for infinite expansion and the addition of more modules. This design not only increases the drone's carrying capacity but also enhances its functionality. The drone's power module, equipped with rotor protection, is surrounded by auxiliary rotating propellers that alternate between clockwise and counter-clockwise rotation.
Realized through the use of circuit boards, brushless motors, Bluetooth technology, strong magnets, airborne sensors, and airborne calculation, the Honeycomb stands out in its technical sophistication. Measuring 815 mm in length, width, and 363 mm in height, the drone is compact yet powerful.
The Honeycomb's functional modules include fire protection, propaganda, seeding, UV sterilization, spray, and express delivery. These modules are magnetically adsorbed in the middle of the hexagonal frame, allowing for easy assembly and disassembly. The built-in Bluetooth feature enables real-time position monitoring, making the drone highly efficient and user-friendly.
Guangpeng Yue and his team embarked on this project in Shenyang, Liaoning Province in June 2020 and completed it in January 2021. The team overcame several challenges, including the integration of function and structure and the precise control of the weight of functional modules to ensure flight stability.
The Honeycomb has been recognized for its innovative design and functionality, winning the Silver A' Robotics, Automaton and Automation Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise, innovation, and technical excellence. Guangpeng Yue's Honeycomb is indeed a testament to the power of design and technology in enhancing lifestyle and meeting diverse needs.
